1. 115 backward
districts in India to be transformed by 2022
i. The
government has embarked upon a major policy initiative for the rapid
transformation of 115 backward districts across the country by 2022.
ii. Senior level government officials, at the rank of Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary, have been nominated as ‘Prabhari’ officers for each district. A detailed briefing of these officials was held under the chairmanship of Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha.

first Sanskrit 3D film 'Anurakthi was among the main attraction in 3D category
at the International Film Festival of India in Panaji in Goa.
ii. The motto of making the film is to make the Sanskrit language relevant even for today. The movie directed by Asokan PK revolves around the traditional art form of Kerala, Koodiyattam.

iconic Trump Tower comprising 140 ultra-luxury apartments has been launched in
Kolkata and its Indian developers are expecting to garner around Rs 700 crore
in sales from this project.
ii. This is the third Trump Tower to be launched in India. Realty firms Unimark Group, RDB Group and Tribeca Developers have already sold about 50 per cent units since the project was soft-launched in mid-October.

two-day Korea festival showcasing Korea's rich art, culture and heritage was
inaugurated by Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) Executive Vice President Min
Hong Min at the Ambience Mall, Haryana along with Joint Secretary in the
Ministry Of Tourism Suman Billa.
ii. The event also saw the signing of an MOU between leading Korean companies such as LG, Hyundai, Samsung and KTO with an aim to promote the tourism by organising MICE groups to Korea for their employees and dealers.

government launched a scheme to boost fish production in the state with a
budgetary provision of Rs 96 crore. The 'Fish Pond Yojana' scheme was launched
by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, while inaugurating a workshop on 'Doubling of
Farmer Income through Dairy and Allied Farming Practices' in Bhubaneswar.
ii. The scheme aims to create additional 2,200 hectare of fresh water aquaculture farming with 50 per cent financial assistance to farmers.

online payments firm BillDesk-owned Hatio Innovations has launched
cryptocurrency exchange ‘Coinome’ in India offering trading of Bitcoin and
Bitcoin Cash.
ii. Coinome allows users to register via an instant e-KYC process by using Aadhaar number. Unlike many other cryptocurrency exchanges, Coinome is an open order book cryptocurrency exchange which enables direct deals between buyers and sellers just like conventional stocks and commodities exchanges.

BoB’s digital Supply Chain Finance solution has been designed to ensure faster approvals, smoother transaction processing and availability of finance to the Small and Medium Enterprises.

theater at Planet Hollywood casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip, with Miss
Colombia and Miss Jamaica making it to the final three
ii. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, 22, who helps train women in self-defense, unleashed a big smile when she won. She hails from Western Cape Province and recently earned a business management degree from North-West University.

Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA).

ii. Vineet Arora will replace K S Gopalakrishnan. Chief People Officer of Aegon Life Insurance, Saba Adil, will serve as the interim In-charge and Principal Officer.
11. Serene Valtteri Bottas Wins Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
i. Valtteri
Bottas won the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from pole position, beating
his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton as Formula One’s season finale petered out
into a procession.
ii. The Finnish driver comfortably secured the third win of his F1 career, all this season since joining from Williams. It was his 22nd career podium and 13th with Mercedes. Third spot in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was occupied by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. This race took place at Yas Marina Cicuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

ii. U.S. President Donald Trump’s Adviser and daughter Ivanka Trump, who is leading the US delegation for GES 2017 attending the summit at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). This year’s Summit will highlight the theme "Women First, Prosperity for All".

16. 7th world military games to be held at Wuhan in China
i. The
7th international military games will be held in Wuhan city in the central
China's Hubei Province. The International Military Sports Council
(CISM)’s Military World Games is a top sport event for military
personnel.
ii. It comprises 329 competitions in 27 categories and is expected to attract around 8,000 participants from more than 100 countries and regions.

Mascot-Bing Bing. Its design is based on the Chinese sturgeon, a critically endangered fish known as the “panda in water”.

17. NK Singh appointed as 15th Finance Commission chairman
i. The
government announced that former revenue secretary NK Singh will be the
chairman of the 15th Finance Commission (FC) that will recommend distribution
of taxes between the Centre and the states
ii. Other members of the commission are former department of economic affair secretary Shaktikanta Das, Anoop Singh, professor at Georgetown University, former chief economic advisor Ashok Lahiri, agricultural expert and NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand. Chand and Lahiri are part time members. The commission has to submit its report by October 30, 2019.

ii. Other members of the commission are former department of economic affair secretary Shaktikanta Das, Anoop Singh, professor at Georgetown University, former chief economic advisor Ashok Lahiri, agricultural expert and NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand. 18. ADB to extend $20 billion Loan to India Over 5 Years
i. Multi-lateral
funding agency Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced that it increase annual
funding to India to up to $4 billion from existing $2.7 billion from next year
to accelerate inclusive economic transformation.
ii. So cumulatively, India, the largest recipient of ADB, will get about $20 billion over a period of 5 years. Under this strategy, ADB’s annual sovereign funding to India will increase from $2 billion to $3 billion while private sector funding will be doubled to $1 billion.
19. Professor Hiroshi Marui conferred with 3rd ICCR Distinguished Indologist Award

i. President
Ram Nath Kovind conferred the 3rd Indian Council for Cultural Relations(ICCR)
Distinguished Indologist Award on Professor Hiroshi Marui of Japan at a
function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
ii. Professor Marui has spent over 40 years working on Indian philosophy and Buddhist Studies. He is President of Japanese Association of Indian and Buddhist Studies and has made significant contribution to Indology in Japan.

i. The
Ministry of Finance appointed former economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das
as India’s G20 Sherpa for the Development Track of the grouping.
ii. There are two tracks in G-20 — Finance Track and Development Track. Finance Track is managed by the secretary (economic affairs) as India’s Deputy to G-20 and the Development Track is coordinated by the Sherpa.

first edition of International Symposium to Promote Innovation & Research
in Energy Efficiency (INSPIRE 2017) was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
ii. The five-day symposium is being organized by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) in partnership with The World Bank, and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE). Its objective was to provide common platform for energy efficiency community to discuss energy efficiency policies, emerging technologies, market transformation strategies, delivery and business-model driven transformations.

India, Greece sign MoU for Air Services Agreement
i. India
and Greece have signed Air Services Agreement (ASA) and MoU on Cooperation
(MoC) in field of New and Renewable Energy.
ii. The agreements were signed after bilateral talks between External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj and her visiting counterpart Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Kotzias in New Delhi. The ASA between India and Greece will allow airlines from Greece to operate unlimited flights to six Indian metropolitan airports and Indian carriers can fly to Greece without any such restriction.
ii. The agreements were signed after bilateral talks between External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj and her visiting counterpart Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Kotzias in New Delhi.
