i. Winter
session of Parliament will be held From 15th of next month to 5th January.
Parliamentary Affairs minister Ananth Kumar has announced this after the
meeting of Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, chaired by Home Minister
Rajnath Singh.
ii. Mr
Kumar stated that parliament session and assembly elections date should not
overlap and earlier also many times Parliament session has been scheduled,
considering assembly elections in the state.
i. The
International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has nominated nine movies for this
year’s International Council for Film, Television and Audio-visual
Communication (ICFT) UNESCO Gandhi Medal. Out of nine films, five are from
India.
ii. The
Indian films competing for the prestigious ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal are Kshitij
- A Horizon, Manusangada, Poorna, Railway Children and Take-Off. The foreign
films in the fray are Amok from Poland, Khibula - a co-production of Germany,
France and Georgia, The Last Painting from Taiwan and Women of The Weeping
River - a joint production of the US and UK.
i. The
Centre has approved setting up of 'Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendras' across
115 most backward districts of the country through a new scheme for reaching
out to rural women and facilitating skill development, employment, digital
literacy, health and nutrition.
ii. The
government also approved expanding the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme from 161
districts to 640 districts in the country, as well as 150 additional 'one stop
centres' for the survivors of sexual violence along with seven other programmes
that are part of the umbrella scheme -- the National Mission for Empowerment of
Women. The financial outlay for these schemes from 2017 to 2020 will be Rs
3,636.85 crore.
i. Ministry
of Human Resources Development has launched a Digital Signature campaign on
Constitution Day affirming faith in Indian Constitution and to generate
awareness on fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution. Giving the link
in a tweet, Mr Javadekar stated that people, can join the campaign by filling a
form online.
ii. 26th
November is celebrated as Constitution Day.
5. RBI Raises Shareholding Limit of ARCs
i. The
RBI has allowed Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) to hold more than 26%
post conversion of debt into equity in companies undergoing restructuring.
ii. In
a notification, the central bank notified the extent of shareholding post
conversion will be in accordance with permissible foreign direct investment
(FDI) limit for that specific sector.
6. Govt Notifies Minimum Export Price of Onion at $850 per Tonne
i. The
government has notified Minimum Export Price of onion at 850 dollars per tonne
to ensure its availability in the domestic market.
ii. Food
and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan stated this will discourage
cheap export from the country and augment its domestic availability. The
Ministry had authorized National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation
(NAFED) and Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) to procure 12 thousand
tonnes onion.
7. SBI launches YONO, an Integrated app for Financial Services
i. State
Bank of India, the country’s largest public sector bank, has launched a unified
integrated app called YONO (You Need Only One) that would offer all kinds of
financial and lifestyle products. YONO will also allow customers to meet their
lifestyle needs across 14 categories including booking and renting cabs,
entertainment, dining experience, travel and stay, medical needs and so on.
ii. To
provide the customised offers and discounts, SBI has partnered with e-commerce
players including Amazon, Uber, Ola, Myntra, Jabong, Shoppers Stop, Cox &
Kings, Thomas Cook, Yatra, Airbnb, Swiggy and Byjus.
